I am a research engineer based in San Francisco, working across AI evaluation, machine learning infrastructure, semiconductor process engineering, and quantitative research.

I tend to follow problems across borders. A question that starts in machine learning might pull me into philosophy, markets, semiconductor tools, music, ecology, or old infrastructure. I like the moment when separate fields start describing the same underlying pattern in different languages.

Most of my work comes back to perception: how people and systems make decisions from partial information. I have worked on mathematical reasoning evaluations, process variability in semiconductor manufacturing, and noisy financial data. Different settings, same basic problem: what is signal, what is artifact, and what are we pretending to know?

I read widely because I do not trust single lenses. Philosophy gives me better questions. Engineering gives me constraints. Statistics gives me humility. Art gives me access to things that are difficult to say directly. I am drawn to nervous systems, circuit boards, bridges, engines, animals, symbols, and music that sounds like weather moving through a machine.

I also need the physical world. Cycling, hiking, plants, tools, cars, and foggy landscapes keep me honest when my work gets too abstract. Nature does not care about my theories, which is part of why I like it.

I am drawn to durable, useful things: clear writing, well-made tools, honest design, quiet competence. I like systems with visible bones. I learn best through iteration, failure, and revision. Failure is not romantic to me; it is information, and usually the fastest way to find the edge of what I actually understand.

I care about intelligence, but I care more about what intelligence is in service of. Compassion, animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and human dignity matter to me because cleverness without moral weight can become dangerous very quickly.

Outside of technical work, I paint, sculpt, write, and make multimedia pieces. I am interested in work that changes how a person notices things, even slightly. That is usually enough.
